DESIRE.. YET TO ACHIVE

Nine years have elapsed but not yet completed the mission. This is in regard with Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) which has completed nine years of age today the 27th of April 2010. All these nine years the TRS has many ups and downs as political party which is formed by the K. Chandrasekhara Rao to bring out the Telangana region from Andhra Pradesh to get its own statehood.
TRS in its nine year journey pushed the people of Telangana to the separate sentiment which is a big success. The main fault the party has done is to mingle with Congress and TDP in 2004 and 2009 elections which gave raw fruits to people. Though it was a part of strategy to achieve the goal of separate statehood it has utterly flopped.
His plans have been totally failed due to the ill-fated Chief Minister YSRajasekhara Reddy when he was alive but he could not succeed after him, though took out a record level agitation in the region. At one time his dream appeared successful with the statement of Home Minister Chidambaram that process of Telangana state had been started. Unfortunately the Andhra-Rayalaseema people agitated unlike previously which stopped the process of separate Telangana instead a committee headed by Justice Sri Krishna has been formed to study the Andhra Pradesh matters. Now the committee has been talking to various political parties and also received record number of representations which are said to be more than sixty thousand. The committee has to submit its report on or before of December 31st of this year.
The TRS is also fluctuating from its stand from time to time on many issues which created confusion among the people. First, the party said Telangana is wanted because of its backwardness and now it has been saying that people of Telangana are interested to rule their own region. The cause of backwardness has been appeared; a very weak point after it was perfectly countered by many Andhra leaders with statistics. After the meeting of Justice Sri Krishna Committee the TRS president Chandrasekhara Rao stated that inner war (antaryuddham) would come if separate state was not recommended by the committee. This was criticized by many people and Vijayawada Loksabha member Lagadapati Rajagopal went deep asking the election commission to suspend the party reorganization.
The nine year old party in its first seventy days from 12th July to 17th 2001 had won two Zilla Parishad Chairmen including 85 ZPTCs and 100 MPTCs during local body elections. After that in the lower level local body elections the party had won 3000 village sarpanch posts and 12000 wards.
This individuality had not been continued by the party in the later days and a political understanding was reached between Congress and TRS during 2004 elections. Though it had won respectable number of seats in that elections, later it was not stood up to. In the 2009 elections the party was allied with Telugudesam and failed to get much seats.
Lack of statndardness in taking out strategies is the main draw back to the party and Chandrasekhar Rao too
