Vijayawadaa once again gets best city award


Vijayawada a Tier-2 city is once again in the news. This time the city has got the award in constructing 8,800 houses at one place. This is the biggest housing project which nowhere in India took place till now. Basing on this the urban development department has announced the award which is going to hand it over to the city municipal commissioner G.Ravibabu on 13th of Dec by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function in New Delhi.

Under the public-private-partnership basis the municipal corporation of Vijayawada has taken 226 acres of land from the adjoining village of Jakkampudi and developed it on the ratio of 60:40. Under this scheme the municipal corporation has got 96 acres as its share and in that 8,800 houses have been built. Remaining 130 acres have to develop by the corporation and hand it over to farmers.
The construction of houses is in final stage and the project waiting to inaugurate by the PM or Chair person of UPA Sonia Gandhi in the month of January.
Constructed in the system of G+3, Municipal Corporation is taking every care to provide all amenities including police station, Fire station, Bus stand, Hospital, schools and college, community halls and parks besides underground drainage.
Already a fly over has been opened to go free access to this area.
The corporation wants to develop 800 more acres at Gollapudi village adjoining to the city. Proposals have been sent to the government in this regard and sanction is awaited.
The Municipal Corporation has already received an award for oil consumption at a function held in Brazil under the Euro-India organization this year.
