VIJAYAWADA: Even as the controversy over whether or not a Government super speciality is going to come up in the city continues to rage, about ten 100-bedded super-speciality hospitals are coming up here in the next year. Six of these hospitals are already under construction. On completion of these hospitals Vijayawada will become the biggest destination for medicare in Coastal Andhra.
The Kamineni Hospitals, a chain of super special hospitals that is running four hospitals having a cumulative bed-strength of 1,600 in Hyderabad is constructing a 200-bedded hospital on the 100-feet road that connects Srichaitanya College main campus with the New Autonagar in Kanuru village limits.
Kamineni hospitals has a clear focus on cardiology, oncology, minimal access surgery, neurology, nephrology, orthopedics and trauma.
The group claims that it was providing medical tourism services to patients from Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Srilanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia. The founders of Kamineni Group hail from Madduru village in Krishna district.
The former CMD of Saumya Apollo and the man who brought the concept of big hospitals to the city, Chinthamaneni Suresh, is building yet another big hospital in Nidamanuru. Boppana Medicare Limited is constructing a 200-bed hospital in Poranki. CMD of Dr. Ramesh Cardiac and Multispeciality Hospital, P.Ramesh Babu, is building a second hospital in the heart of the city near the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in the premises of his old hospital.

A group with support from some non-resident Indians are constructing a hospital on Ring Road near Vinayak Theatre.
Anila Cancer Care head and consulting oncologist for Andhra Hospitals M. Subba Rao is constructing a 100-bedded cancer hospital in Kanuru area right besides the existing Nagarjuna Hospital. Suraksha Neuro Hospital head V.B.Chowdary is constructing a 100-bedded hospital in Suryaraopet.
The M. J. Naidu Joint Replacement Centre near Pushpa Hotel Centre is building an extension block with the capacity to hold 100 beds right being the existing hospital. Machilipatnam based physician Parthasarati is building a 100-bedded hospital opposite Eenadu Office near Benz Circle.
The Time Hospitals group has purchased two acres in Gollapudi for construction of a large hospital before establishing branches in other cities and towns.
The city branch of the L.V.Prasad Eye Hospital is near completion in Tadigadapa, a suburb of the city. Metro Super Speciality Hospitals with latest micro-scope that can greatly reduce the risk of brain surgery with a bed strength of 100.
The city already has hospitals being run by the major Manipal group and the fast expanding Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and innumerable private hospitals and nursing homes cater to the ever growing needs of patients who come here from West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur districts and parts of Prakasam, Khammam and Nalgonda districts.
